Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Committee of International Affairs of the Russian Duma sent a letter to Vit Petrocelli, Head of Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Senate of Italy on 27 April with incitement to lift sanctions against Moscow. According to the Internet portal that published the document, Mr L. Slutsky was sorry about a wrecked adoption of the declaration suggested by Russia at the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) that proposed to refuse trade wars and sanctions in the background of pandemic that were meant to escape the UN Security Council (its permanent member Russia has a veto power there and is one of the leaders using it).
‘Western countries that call themselves democratic apply sanctions of various levels against one third of the world population and is not going to facilitate them even in the background of the coronavirus pandemic. This antihuman line aggravates provision of high quality medical services in the countries such as Iran and Venezuela and does not contribute to recovery of national economies in Europe, too’, the letter told.  The letter was finished with a traditional incitement to all clear-headed authorities in the European Union (EU), USA, United Kingdom (UK), the main international organizations to surrender destructive politics. summarized this story and reminded that Moscow produced an invoice to Italy for the provided aid (also military) in fighting COVID-19 pandemic.
On 23 April the UN General Assembly dismissed the draft resolution of Russia for the second time this year. Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who was leading a group of countries that prevented from adoption of the document in regards to this, reminded of ongoing attempts of Moscow to submit manipulative resolutions to the UN General Assembly.
On 25 April Presidents of the United States and Russia Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin announced a common statement on the occasion of 75 anniversary of the meeting of Russian and American soldiers at the river Elbe, where the meeting with shaking hands on the demolished bridge over the river was called a final herald of defeating the Nazis and the ‘Spirit of the Elbe’ – as an example how both countries manage to put all controversies aside and cooperate for the sake of a common goal. Moscow started to commemorate the end of World War II in the United States much earlier – a plane with 30 meter long Ribbon of Saint George flew over Chicago and the Lake Michigan.
On 27 April the President of Russia in the telegram addressed to visitors of the Internet exhibition ‘Stalin-Churchill-Roosevelt’ encouraged countries-members of the Anti-Hitler Coalition to return to solidarity when the human race is facing new global threats. As if it is worth to use priceless experience of the international cooperation that was developed during the years of World War II when the former Soviet Union, Great Britain, United States that gave up their personal ambitions and frequent opposite assessment of situations, were acting in solidarity and coordination and for the benefit of ideals of freedom and humanism. Thanks to this the war was finished and global security system was established based on common actions and UN Statute.
Sonorous invitations for solidarity even in this context: in reaction to the statement of Presidents of Russia and United States ‘Spirit of the Elbe’, Danylo Lubkivski, the former Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, diplomatic councillor of the Prime Minister, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Fund ‘Open Ukraine’ in his Facebook profile encouraged Kiev to react to this gesture and indicated that Russia had neither historical nor moral right to appropriate the victory in World War II, because blood of millions of Ukrainians also contributed to this. According to the diplomat, the desire of President D. Trump to find points of contacts with V. Putin cannot be built on the account of the future of Ukraine. We cannot play with ambitions of V. Putin to feel the leader of a great country and Russian imperialism that attacks Ukraine every day, attempts on security of Georgia, Moldova and the Western countries.
On 3 May Chancellor of Germany in 1998-2005 Gerhard Schröder in his interview to the daily told that Crimea would not be returned to Ukraine. In Twitter Andriy Melnyk, the Ambassador of Ukraine in Germany in reaction to this called it a call of desperation of the Kremlin’s lobbyist. According to the diplomat, Kiev appreciates a firm position of Berlin in regards to retention of sanctions against Moscow and non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea. It suggested the bet to 76 years old ex- Chancellor that Crimea would necessarily be returned to Ukraine until his death.
G.Schröder started working for Russia after President V.Putin visited Berlin at the beginning of September 2005 and signed an agreement in regards to building a gas pipeline of the Northern Europe underneath the Baltic Sea. Ex-Chancellor ,who held the top position in the consortium that was building a pipeline, currently is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Russian public company Rosnef and a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (since 2008). In the interview of 20 December 2005 to the daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Angela Merkel, who replaced G. Schröder in the position of the Chancellor, indicated that in her opinion, although the decision in regards to the career of the predecessor was not political it could encumber relations among Germany and Poland and Baltic States. The recent history shows that not only with them.
A.Melnyk also ignored the invitation of the mayor of Berlin Michael Müller to participate in the ceremony of laying flowers at the entrance to the house on Schulenburgring 2 together with colleagues from Russia and Belarus, where Wehrmacht soldiers capitulated in Berlin on that day in 1945. The diplomat thanked for contribution of Ukrainians in recognition of liberation of Europe and also politely indicated that he could not not make comments on heroism of his nation with a representative of the country that has been provoking a conflict in the east of Ukraine for the sixth year, where over 14 thousand of his countrymen were killed and who provoked unprecedented alienation between Ukrainians and Russians. The Ambassador of Ukraine also reminded that during World War II over 6 million Ukrainians were fighting in the Red Army and 250 thousand Ukrainians were fighting among allies.
To make a picture full we should remember that Moscow and V.Putin personally started this year with brutal attacks of Poland and named it almost a perpetrator of World War II. Removal of commemorative plagues to the killed Poles on the building of Tver Medical University on May 7 right before commemoration of the end of World War II may be considered as a symbolic ‘generalization’ of such an attitude.  Now they are removed (!). At the reguest of the loal Prosecutor’s office it indicated that it had not found any proof that Polish prisoners in Ostashkovsk camp were shot dead at the premises of the current Medical University. 6,295 Poles who were shot dead by NKVD from April to May 1940 were buried in the memorial cemetery ‘ in Tver region.
Janusz Kowalski, Deputy Minister of the State Assets of Poland in his interview to the daily on 28 April also did not exclude that the government of the state might seguestrate assets of the project ‘Northern Flow 2’ of the Russian concern  as a compensation for the damage awarded by Stockholm arbitration to the state oil company of Poland under the example of the Ukrainian company that initiated sequestration of assets of everywhere in Europe also after Stokholm arbitration, which awarded almost 3 billion US dollers to the Ukrainian company to be paid by the Russian concern.
Leon Aron, Head of the Investigation Department of Russia in the Washington Institute American Enterpsise in his comments to The Wall Street Journal (www.wsj.com/articles/the-coronavirus-could-imperil-putins-presidency-11587682524?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=1) indicated a guite probable scenario that a minor triumphant war may seem ‘necessary’ to the President of Russia in order to solve all current problems. By the way, we have a paradox situation, when even wishing to mitigate the accumulated negative among Russians towards the President by way of a minor war, whose ratings dropped to the lowest positions ever, physically is not possible, because if the army is taken to the operations it might die as a result of the coronavirus.
However, in the opinion of the observer, this guestion has not been removed from the agenda and he remembers the journalist Alexander Nevzorov, who was V. Putin’s attorney during the presidential election campain in 2012. According to him, the President of Russia is a man of ideas. Even if these ideas are weired or terrible, if V. Putin starts relying on them, we cannot even talk about forgetting about them. The state prestigue, in the way the President of Russia sees it, encourages grabbing everything from what has been lost after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This is how he sees his mission and place in the history.
Summarizing we should not exclude that now is the time of higher alertness. Some American commentators, who are more critical towards the Kremlin, are concerned about more freguent phone calls between D. Trump and V. Putin, the details of which usually remain unrevealed.  They fear that the President of Russia might get some benefits from the Americal colleague. On the other hand, the Congress accepts and lifts sanctions in the United States. There are no signs that it is getting ready to do so, however the situation does not lack inconisistency, thus we are living in the times of preferred increased alertness.
I think it is worth ending up with a comment from the Russian media: ‘Again the feat of the masses (during the years of World War II – A.S.) is being used in the political bazaar’.
